I’m really chuffed that I wrote something for the Paraxis short story site and it was selected for inclusion in their Volume 2. The focus of this volume was libraries and it includes contributions from 51 writers, readers and artists. Public library services in the UK are seriously under threat at the moment and this volume shows why people love libraries and it doesn’t just contain short stories.
Volume 2 is broken up into a “Library Wall” and individual pieces.
A few of my favourite pieces so far (I haven’t managed to read them all yet) are “Library Lover” by Maurice Devitt, “Libraries That No Longer Exist” by Fat Roland, and “A Catalogue of Unreadable Things” by Tori Truslow. I’m sure I’ll come across more as I find the time to read them.
My piece is “Some Thoughts Went With Me”.

“AudioPaint” is another audio tool I use to generate sounds.
This one allows you to upload a picture/photo, using a common image format, such as jpeg; bmp; gif; png, and then it creates sound based on the the image you’ve uploaded. To do this, it’s basically looking at the colour/hue, etc of pixels and where they appear in relation to each other in the image.
You can tinker with various settings, so that you have some creative control over the sound it produces. Things like output audio frequency; type of sound wave; duration of sound; whether it use Red Green Blue or colour hue to produce a sound, etc. can all be changed.
It’s really handy for creating ambient noise/sound and it’s also interesting being able to listen to an audio representation of an image.
